FAQs
Clean Cut Landscape Services
When is the best time to schedule a landscaping project in New Jersey?
Hardscape installations like patios, retaining walls, and stonework can be completed from early spring through late fall. For plantings and sod, spring or early fall offers ideal conditions with cooler temperatures that help plants establish more effectively. Lawn seeding yields the best results when done between late August and September. Since our calendar fills up quickly, we suggest scheduling your project 4-6 weeks ahead of time. How do you handle underground utilities and permits?
For projects requiring excavation, we work directly with New Jersey 811 to ensure all underground utilities are properly marked before beginning work. Most standard landscaping services such as mulching, planting, or lawn maintenance don't require permits. However, larger installations like retaining walls exceeding 4 feet or extensive hardscape projects may need township approval. We'll assist you with navigating the local requirements if permits are necessary.Do you have a minimum service amount or service area?
We maintain a 3-yard minimum for mulch installations to ensure operational efficiency. All other landscaping services are estimated based on the specific dimensions and requirements of your project. Our service area covers both residential and commercial properties throughout Somerset County, NJ.Will pool landscaping survive NJ weather and pool chemicals?
Absolutely. We carefully select plants that can withstand heat, humidity, and occasional exposure to salt or chlorine around pool areas. For pool surrounds and patios, we install surfaces designed to prevent slipping, incorporate proper grading, and use polymeric sand between pavers to resist weed growth and prevent shifting during New Jersey's seasonal freeze-thaw cycles. Why is drainage important for patios and retaining walls?
Effective drainage prevents water accumulation behind walls or beneath patios that could lead to structural shifting or cracking over time. Every hardscape and retaining wall we construct includes an integrated drainage system featuring stone backfill and perforated piping designed to channel water safely away from the structure. Can I plant a new tree where a stump was just removed?
We generally advise planting several feet away from a recently ground stump location. The wood chips remaining in the soil can temporarily impact nutrient availability during decomposition. If you prefer to plant in the exact same spot, we can remove the excess wood chips and introduce fresh topsoil to create a suitable planting environment. When should I schedule spring or fall cleanups?
Spring cleanups are most effective when scheduled from late March through April to prepare garden beds for mulching and planting. For fall and leaf cleanups, we recommend booking by early October. Most properties benefit from two cleanup visits—one in mid-November and a follow-up in early December to remove the final leaf drop before winter arrives. What's included in a full property cleanup?
Our comprehensive cleanup services typically include: blowing out garden beds, removing debris from lawn areas, clearing leaves from hardscaped surfaces, and conducting a final property cleanup. We remove all collected debris unless you specify a preference for keeping materials in an on-site composting area. How are landscaping services priced?
Our pricing structure varies by service type: volume-based pricing applies to mulch (with our 3-yard minimum) and gravel/stone sold by the ton; property size determines rates for cleanups, trimming, and weeding services; while patios, retaining walls, and pool landscaping are priced on a project basis. We provide a detailed written estimate for all work before starting any project.
